Aspen Airport to Snowmass.
Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE) to Snowmass Village is just 8 miles — a 15-minute drive. ASE is technically the closest airport to Snowmass when it's operating. But ASE has frequent weather cancellations and was closed April 23 – May 21, 2026, so most Snowmass guests planned around the EGE alternative during that period.
Eagle Mountain Express services Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) only. We don't pick up at ASE — if you fly into ASE, you'll need to arrange ground transport through an ASE-based provider. For the EGE → Snowmass route (72 miles, 90 minutes), we run live market-rate transfers per vehicle.
01ASE → Snowmass — when it works
When ASE is operating, the 8-mile, 15-minute drive to Snowmass Village is the most convenient option for guests. ASE is closer to Snowmass than to Aspen itself, which is why some travelers prefer ASE for Snowmass-specific trips. ASE-based ground transport handles the short drive — we don't service ASE pickups.
02Why ASE often doesn't work
ASE has frequent weather cancellations due to its mountain-valley location and single runway with weight restrictions. Travelers who absolutely need to be at Snowmass on a specific day should always have an EGE backup plan. Booking ASE alone, without a contingency, has stranded plenty of ski travelers in Denver during winter storms.
03ASE closure (April 23 – May 21, 2026)
ASE was closed for 28 days in spring 2026 for runway maintenance. During that window, EGE was the recommended alternative — 72 miles, 90 minutes via I-70 West and CO-82 South. Eagle Mountain Express ran the EGE → Snowmass transfer from live market-rate pricing per vehicle, plus a 20% driver gratuity. Pre-booking 48+ hours ahead was recommended during the closure window.
04If you've already booked ASE
First option: change to EGE if your travel dates allow and your fare permits. Second option: keep your ASE booking but pre-arrange ASE-based ground transport. Third option: book contingency EGE flights you can pivot to if ASE weather forces a diversion. Many seasoned Aspen travelers book ASE on the way out (less time-sensitive) and EGE on the way in (so a weather diversion doesn't ruin Day 1).
