Can you fly into Vail?

Quick answer

Yes - you fly into Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE), 35 miles west of Vail Village. It is served by United, American, Delta and Alaska, with year-round nonstop service from Denver and Dallas/Fort Worth and roughly 14 to 16 nonstop destinations added for the winter season.

01Which airlines fly to EGE

United, American, Delta and Alaska all operate at EGE, and United connects it to seven of its hubs. Service is heavily seasonal - the winter schedule is far larger than the summer one, because EGE exists primarily to serve Vail and Beaver Creek ski traffic. On peak winter days EGE is the second-busiest airport in Colorado.

02Year-round vs winter-only

Denver (DEN) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) run year-round. The winter season adds roughly 14 to 16 nonstop markets across United, American, Delta and Alaska hubs. Summer and shoulder seasons are much thinner, often Denver and Dallas only. Seasonal routes are announced each year, so check current nonstops with the airport before booking.

03If there is no nonstop from your city

Two normal options. Connect through a hub onto a short EGE leg, or fly into Denver International (DEN) and drive. DEN has far more flights but is 120 miles from Vail, a 2 to 2.5 hour drive that crosses Vail Pass at 10,662 ft - a pass CDOT closes 10 to 15 days a year for weather. EGE avoids the pass entirely.

04Booking tip for ski season

EGE winter capacity sells out early over holiday weeks and late fare drops are rare at a small airport. Book flights and ground transfer together - EGE ground capacity tightens on peak arrival days just as flights do.
